Competitive Bidding Update: The Round Two “Recompete” Is a Reality!
is also set for Wednesday, Oct 22, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
at the C101 Auditorium. Speakers include: Kim Brummett, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs; Miriam Lieber, President, Lieber Consulting LLC; Mark Higley, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, VGM Group Inc; and Jeffrey Baird, Attorney, Brown & Fortunato, P.C.
Coupled with the 2016 roll-out of nationwide competitive bid pricing, HME providers need to be prepared for this next “competition.”
The panelists will detail the new product categories, the prospective schedule of the bidding window, and comment on how this round will likely affect pricing in all areas of the country. While the industry continues its valiant fight to derail this program, HME operators seem to have acknowledged their politically insecure future and the likelihood of future rounds of competitive bidding. Accordingly, certain short and longer term “fixes” are being proposed to lawmakers to potentially mitigate some of the more grievous facts of the program, all of which will be discussed.
Tracking the Impact of Audits: The HME Audit Key will take place on
Wednesday, Oct 22
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM, also in the C101 Auditorium
Speakers include: Tom Ryan, President/CEO, AAHomecare; Jay Witter, Senior Vice President of Public Policy; Kim Brummett, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs; and Randi Dessingue, Director, Provider Consulting Solutions.
To successfully work towards audit reform, AAHomecare is developing the HME Audit Key, an industry-wide audit tracking system which will quantify the impacts of audits and present compelling data that policymakers cannot ignore. This is a massive, long term commitment that will benefit the entire industry.
Attendees will learn the ins and outs of the survey tool that will be used to collect audit data, what data will be collected, how they can participate and the role of information technology providers. This session will also cover how the HME Audit Key fits in with AAHomecare’s larger audit reform strategy and the details of the new Audit Improvement and Reform (AIR) Act, H.R. 5083.
