Sustainability

Emerald (parent company of Medtrade) is committed to reducing our consumption of natural resources, supporting corporate conservation efforts, and minimizing our environmental impact with the goal of reducing the environmental footprint of our businesses through best practices. We collaborate with key partners and suppliers throughout the event industry, including but not limited to venues, hotels, and general service contractors in furtherance of our sustainability initiatives.

Our Environmental and Net Zero Priorities include:

Our Pledge to the Net Zero Carbon Events Initiative
Emerald is a signatory of the the Net Zero Carbon Events pledge initiative that targets net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with an interim goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030.

As part of this pledge, we have undertaken efforts to identify and prioritize actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including energy management, water conservation, materials management, food and beverage waste reduction, sustainable procurement, stakeholder management and employee engagement initiatives.

ESG Data Convergence Initiative
Through our majority shareholder Onex, Emerald also participates in the ESG Data Convergence Initiative, which seeks to first standardize ESG metrics as well as reduce overall emissions.
