ATLANTA – While the new “Caretailing” term continues to weave its way into the fabric of the industry, the biannual Innovative HME Retail Product Awards, sponsored by HomeCare Magazine, continue to receive nominations. Providers who know of a great retail product (from a Medtrade exhibitor) should contact the manufacturer and encourage a representative to enter the competition.
The awards honor HME products that are particularly suited for retail sale and/or caretailing. The purpose of the competition is to promote and recognize products that contribute to providers’ bottom lines though cash sales. Products will be judged on marketing support provided to suppliers, innovation, functionality, quality/durability, aesthetics/style, environmental sustainability, ease of retail set-up, and pricing.
The caretailing ethos is to “provide customer service and expertise to consumers willing to pay cash for health-related products that improve their lives and are beyond the usual scope of Medicare and other third-party payers.” Encourage manufacturers to contact Kevin Gaffney, group show director, at [email protected], if they wish to enter.
• On Oct 27, 2015, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at Medtrade, Jim Greatorex will host an educational session where finalists are able to present their products. Session attendees will vote on the winners.
Ideas in Caretail / Point of Purchase and Small Spaces
In cooperation with VGM and KC Fixtures, Medtrade is presenting Ideas in Caretail: Point-of-Purchase and Small Spaces. This area will showcase point-of-purchase (POP) displays that are either vendor supplied, or racks that you can fill with your choice of products to create a custom POP display.
These options are also great for businesses that lack retail space but can benefit by adding a product line or creating a display with complementary products. Learn what options are available for your retail environment by visiting Ideas in Caretail on the expo floor.
