VIENNA, VA – CommonWell Health Alliance, a not-for-profit trade association, welcomed new members Brightree (Booth #2245) and MacPractice as contributing members last week.
“When CommonWell was created in 2013, we wanted to ensure our members and their clients received value quickly and comprehensively,” said Nick Knowlton, board member for CommonWell Health Alliance and senior director at Greenway Health. “In that spirit, each of our initial member companies brought a unique aspect to allow us to stay focused, yet visionary.”
Knowlton explained that with more than 10 provider sites live, thousands of people enrolled, and dozens of clinicians leveraging the organization’s services daily, CommonWell is now positioned to more broadly open its membership to organizations, including health care organizations, vendors and systems, who share the association’s vision for interoperability.
Members of the Alliance represent a wide breadth of the industry and allow the organization to build pilot services across varying geographies, provider types and venues of care. The newest contributing members bring distinctive strengths to the Alliance as they look to expand their services.
Brightree enters the Alliance as the first dedicated post-acute vendor, with a sizable footprint in the home health sector, one of the fastest growing patient care settings. Brightree’s entry is expected to open new opportunities for in-home HIT access for patients and their clinicians.
“Brightree is dedicated to representing the post-acute care community’s desire to help our nation reduce the cost of care while improving patient outcomes,” said Dave Cormack, president and CEO of Brightree (pictured). “We believe the Contributing Membership gives us the highest level of involvement to ensure the unique workflows and needs of home health, long-term care and hospice providers are considered in setting new data-sharing standards across the complete continuum of care.”
BRIGHTREE WORKSHOP AT MEDTRADE

Managing and Monitoring “Worklists”
10:00am – 5:00pm
Speaker: Kathy Quehl, senior implementation consultant, Brightree
The Brightree solution is a valuable system for billing and inventory, and reporting, but did you know that it is also one of your most valuable “activity/staff management” tools? Owners, executives, supervisors, operations managers, and other staff need to provide and or establish a simple/usable structure for identifying daily work and this process should be as efficient as possible. During this workshop, attendees will learn the key Brightree tools and best practices to help manage processes via existing pre-created worklists, as well as how to create custom worklists to establish a unique work-flow.
Attendees will also learn how to utilize Brightree’s reporting and functionality to help manage, monitor and measure work activity areas, such as those within: customer service, documentation, dispatch, purchasing, billing and AR management, and cash applications. This session will review how to utilize actual “work lists” for the staff’s daily work assignments. In addition, attendees will learn other key tips to auditing and analyzing data and will leave the workshop with the power to better manage work activity within the Brightree system.
