WASHINGTON, DC – There is a growing problem in our industry, and AAHomecare plans to tackle it head on. As I’m sure you can guess, this issue is the out-of-control audits.
We are attacking audit reform on both the legislative and regulatory fronts.
On the legislative front, we have a legislative proposal in play and are actively seeking sponsors. Audit reform already has widespread support from all corners of the healthcare sector and the buzz has been building on Capitol Hill. We’re getting calls from congressional offices and new leaders like Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) are emerging.
Our timing could not be better. There are a lot of players on this issue and it is imperative that as an industry, we present a united front, work together and stay on the same page when coordinating with allied groups. Without alignment, we will not be able to make real change happen. This is our time to come together and bring the full weight of the industry to bear on a problem that affects us all. If you are missing the Washington Legislation Conference this week, please reconsider.
The Washington Legislative Conference is your opportunity to come to DC and help drive the industry agenda with policymakers. There are going to be major developments with audit reform and we will need everyone’s support.
In addition to the lobbying efforts, AAHomecare is bringing in big name speakers, such as:
• Laurence Wilson, CMS Chronic Care Policy Director, who will keynote the event and give attendees an exclusive inside look at CMS’ current thinking;
• Ohio Congressman Jim Renacci, who participated in the Round One Rebid as a medical supplies provider and understands the challenges our industry is facing; and
• Kim Brandt, Senate Finance Committee Chief Healthcare
Investigative Counsel for the minority, who was a key participant in the
recent Senate Finance Committee meeting on Medicare audits.
