WASHINGTON, D.C. – HME providers are encouraged to participate in AAHomecare’s survey capturing the real-world market pressures on the increased costs of products, labor, and deliveries to use in advocacy efforts to secure reimbursement relief. Those who provide home oxygen equipment, CPAP devices, and/or hospital beds to end users in a home-based setting are encouraged to take this survey by Friday, 9/8.
Insights from the survey will be used on Capitol Hill to build support for continuing Medicare 75/25 rate relief for non-bid, non-rural areas that are due to take a 32% cut on January 1st if legislation isn’t passed and to secure 90/10 blended rate relief for former CBAs. Intel will also be instrumental in securing payer wins across the country.
“With the virtual Washington Legislative Conference just around the corner, the timing of this survey couldn’t be better as we quantify the current, real world market pressures that HME providers are operating under,” remarks Tom Ryan, AAHomecare President & CEO. “A robust Industry response will provide useful intel as we engage Congress, CMS, and payers to secure rate relief and protect patient access.”
Survey results will be kept anonymous and used in aggregate to highlight national trends and pressure points, much like the infographics AAHomecare created earlier this year based on its disposable supplies surveys (Enteral Nutrition infographic, Ostomy & Urological Supplies infographic and Woundcare Supplies infographic). All HME providers are encouraged to participate in this important survey.

Stay tuned for an AAHomecare education-focused survey launching early September as the Association requests Industry input as it develops an educational platform to best meet the Industry’s operational, personnel, payer, and claims-related issues.
Latest Tracking Shows Largest Decline In Medicare-Registered DMEPOS Locations In Years
WASHINGTON, D.C. – AAHomecare’s quarterly supplier number tracking sheet is now available with July 2023 data. AAHomecare monitors the DMEPOS industry by reviewing the list of Medicare registered suppliers. The updated tracking sheet shows the most significant decrease in traditional DMEPOS supplier locations in years.
This past year, each quarterly update showed about a 1%-2% decrease, but this past quarter’s data showed a 7% decrease. We now estimate there are currently 8,180 traditional Medicare DMEPOS locations across the country. AAHomecare’s updated analysis shows about a 37% decrease in traditional DME supplier locations since 2013. State-specific results and our “heat-map” of supplier locations nationwide document can be found here.
AHomecare Elevates Gambill to New Events and Education Position
WASHINGTON, D.C. – With member engagement and experiences a key focus of AAHomecare, the Association taps Tilly Gambill to lead an enhanced education and events program geared toward the needs of the HME community. Gambill becomes the Senior Director of Education, Marketing, and Events pursuing comprehensive and unique opportunities for our member companies and building on the member affinity programs in place.
In her new role, Gambill will develop a new education curriculum based on the results of a forthcoming education survey, work with members of the Board to identify thought leaders and expert presenters, and manage the education and resource libraries online to help our members quickly access needed information. This role will also encompass Medtrade events, AAHomecare programs, and coordination of the Washington Legislative Conferences. Member discount programs will also fall under Gambill’s purview.

“Working with our members to strengthen their businesses and build connections with AAHomecare is a highlight in my tenure with AAHomecare,” explains Gambill. “I look forward to further expanding the offerings of the Association to build up the industry through educational opportunities, networking and collaborative meetings, and national advocacy programs to meet the needs of our diverse membership.”
