WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Dec. 20, CMS published the 2024 DMEPOS Fee-for-Service Fee Schedule. The fee schedule goes into effect on January 1, 2024 and includes the 2.6%-3% CPI-U adjustments announced in AAHomecare’s Dec. 11 alert.
As of now, CMS is planning to revert back to fully adjusted rates in non-rural areas, effectively removing the current 75/25 CARES Act relief rates. Due to this, the rates for CBP items in non-rural areas would be considerably lower than the relief rates in effect today.
AAHomecare and HME stakeholders continue to advocate for the extension of relief rates. Legislation to extend the 75/25 blended rate for suppliers in non-rural areas was approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Dec. 6.
The Senate Finance Committee passed similar legislation in early November. Our champions on Capitol Hill are working to have these measures included in government funding and healthcare extender legislation that is expected to be considered before the next funding deadline, Jan. 19. AAHomecare will soon be providing further analysis of the new rates.
