PHOENIX – HME leaders from around the country convened in Phoenix last week for the first edition of the newly branded Medtrade West. A unique mid-summer slot, a new location, and a reworked meeting schedule put a fresh spin on the event – and the chance to finally interact with fellow HME professionals after 18 months of social distancing and online meetings added to the energy.
“I was excited to walk into the convention center and see so many people ready to take advantage of the expert-led education, networking opportunities, and show-floor offerings,” said Tom Ryan, AAHomecare president & CEO. “This has been a challenging year for everyone, but it’s clear that HME professionals are looking forward – not backward – and they remain committed to building their businesses and advocating for sensible reimbursements and regulations for our industry.”
The new streamlined format included a Tuesday happy hour “preview” of the show floor followed by a full day for the Expo that met with praise from attendees and exhibitors. The new arrangement eliminated conflicts between show floor time and educational sessions.
We appreciate the strong turnout at Wednesday morning’s AAHomecare Update. The update continued the discussion format first employed at Medtrade Spring 2020 and generated even more audience participation – a trend we look to build on at Medtrade East in October. Thanks to David Kopf, editor of HME Business, for his terrific work moderating the session. David followed up with AAHomecare senior staff after the Update to further discuss legislative, regulatory, and payer relations priorities and shares their perspectives in this podcast episode.
Thanks to the dedicated HME professionals who joined us in Phoenix to make the first edition Medtrade West a show to remember!
