DALLAS – The AAHomecare Payer Relations Council has created a new Managed Care Track that will debut at Medtrade, scheduled for Feb 18-20, 2025 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. The Council developed six classes, plus two additional sessions on complementary topics to complete the track.
As senior vice president of Payer Relations at AAHomecare, Laura Williard (pictured) helped create the curriculum and will be co-presenting with Amanda Minimi at Aeroflow Health. “Current and Future Trends and Innovations in Payor Relations [Wednesday, Feb. 19] was created for providers to be able to hear from experts from various insurance payers on the value of HME,” says Williard. “Providers will be able to learn where the payers see value in HME providers and how they can partner with the payers for better outcomes. Attendees should expect to learn where these payer experts see the health care landscape evolving in the future. Anyone involved in payer relations, contracting, or business strategy development will not want to miss this session.”
The track will feature two categories—Basic Payer Relations for Newcomers and Advanced Payer Relations Strategies. For those new to payer relations, the “basic” category will provide information on regulatory bodies, building and maintaining effective relationships with payors, and the most up-to-date information to help providers engage the most important stakeholders in this space.
More seasoned payer relations professionals will want to access the “advanced” category and delve into sophisticated negotiation techniques and complex contract negotiations—plus advanced technologies including AI, emerging trends, and the future landscape of the DME industry.
While Medtrade offered a Payer Relations track in 2024, the Medtrade EAB listened to feedback from the surveys asking for more panels with peers highlighting thought leadership within the industry. The new Managed Care track accepted presentation submissions and then made decisions on the best content for the attendees.
“The Council is comprised of small, regional, and national companies representing all geographic areas with a goal of setting strategic direction for payer relations for our industry,” Williard adds. “They do this through collaboration and education to the HME community on topics that elevate our industry when dealing with payers.”
