VGM Group Searching For President
WATERLOO, Iowa – VGM Group, Inc. has begun the search for a president to head its VGM & Associates division, the nation’s largest member service organization for post-acute healthcare. This role leads a 70-person team serving VGM’s 3000 member organizations, as well as vendor partners, and the broader HME industry. The candidate selected will also join VGM Group’s 10-person senior leadership team. VGM expects the search to be completed by the end of July.
The news comes as Clint Geffert (pictured) announces his resignation to pursue a new position with a manufacturer and distributor in the HME space. Geffert joined VGM in 2012. As president, he focused on identifying solutions for VGM’s membership so they could focus on providing higher quality care at a better cost. “Clint remains a friend to VGM and a valued leader in the HME industry,” said VGM CEO Mike Mallaro. “We’re thankful for his service to VGM, its employee owners, and the customers they serve. And we look forward to continuing to work with him in this everchanging environment.”
Praise For Golden’s Lightweight Mobility Scooter
OLD FORGE, PA – In an increasingly competitive market for mobility aids, Forbes Health analyzed data on nearly 200 products from total weight to price to comfort to safety features. The BuzzAround CarryOn scooter (from Medtrade East exhibitor Golden Technologies) made Forbes’ list as one of the Best Lightweight Mobility Scooters of 2022.
“Among the many brands and models of lightweight mobility scooters available, it’s an honor to have our BuzzAround CarryOn folding scooter reviewed and backed by Forbes as a stand-out in this market,” said Rich Golden, CEO of Golden Technologies. “It’s one of the hottest selling scooters due to its incredible transportability. Golden is known for making advances in technology and innovation in driving weight out of a scooter while increasing strength, weight capacity, and range, all while keeping a mobility aid portable, good-looking, and fun to drive. The new GB120 BuzzAround CarryOn scooter is a great example of this type of product focus.”
According to Forbes, the BuzzAround CarryOn scooter made the cut due to its inclusion of both front and rear lighting packages, which many scooters lack, the 18-mile travel range with its long-distance battery, and the four inches of ground clearance, which is impressive for a portable scooter. Their review also stated that the CarryOn does offer more generous padding than other travel scooters and a more ergonomic seat shape and higher-reaching backrest than many of its competitors, plus flip-up armrests provide useful flexibility and comfort as well.

NY HME Suppliers Encouraged To Advocate
ALBANY, NY – The Northeast Medical Equipment Providers Association (NEMEP) and VGM Government Relations are encouraging providers to reach out to state assembly members and state senators regarding bills A.5368 and S.5118-A. These bills will prevent managed care organizations (MCOs) from setting the fee schedule at rates below the published fee schedule and will protect access to critical durable medical equipment for patients in need.
Over the years, New York’s Medicaid managed care organizations have reduced reimbursement rates to an unsustainable level, making it difficult to get patients quality products and services. Providers can reach state senators and assembly members by clicking here and entering a zip code. A message has already been crafted, but providers are welcome to add anything to the message before sending.
