WASHINGTON, DC – 2025 ushered in a new Administration and major leadership changes on Congressional committees of jurisdiction for healthcare finance issues. Our industry must take advantage of the opportunity to enlist new advocates for HME on Capitol Hill and strengthen relationships with our established champions.
With so much on the line for the HME community, AAHomecare is hosting our first full-scale, in-person Washington Legislative Conference (WLC) in six years—and we invite you to take part in this high-impact advocacy event.
This year’s conference is designed to make the most of your time, with a networking reception and dinner set for Monday evening (May 12, 5:00-9:30 PM), followed by a full day to meet members of Congress and staff on Tuesday, May 13.
We need passionate HME advocates to keep the pressure on Congress to:
- Restore 75/25 blended Medicare reimbursement relief.
- Deliver a long-term solution that aligns rates with market reality for suppliers in former bidding areas.
- Ensure Medicare Advantage plans don’t limit coverage for HME products.
- Protect Medicaid benefits.
- Pass common-sense carbon/titanium wheelchair legislation.
- Reform the UPIC Program.
- Increase support for DME ePrescribing.
WLC advocacy impacts can go beyond passing legislation. Your in-person lobbying on Capitol Hill has given way to Congressional engagement with HHS and CMS that led to important COVID-19 PHE relief, establishing 50/50 blended rates in rural areas on a permanent basis, and improvements in O2 reimbursement policy. With a new Administration in place, we may have an expanded playing field to secure wins for HME. We’ll provide issue education in advance and work to deliver the best possible schedule for your meeting with legislators and staff.
