WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nearly 60 AAHomecare leaders met with members of Congress and staff last week (John Cassar [SuperCare] and Jay Witter [AAHomecare] pictured below) to drive home the need to enact legislation to extend 75/25 blended rates and make the case for other HME priorities.
In the course of more than 140 meetings with Senate & House offices, members shared: the effects on their businesses and impacts on patients following the cuts in non-CB/non-rural areas; the need for market-based rates across all Medicare categories and payers; and maintaining strong access to NIV and CGM devices—and moving CRT legislation (HR 5371) forward.
“Tell your story and let your legislators know your pain points,” AAHomecare’s Tom Ryan told advocates at a dinner at the Capitol Hill Club the evening before the meetings. “Your face-to-face advocacy establishes credibility and adds urgency to our persistent lobbing work on Capitol Hill, and we need it to win on 75/25 and other issues.”
AAHomecare once again put a priority on engaging with legislators on “Committees of Jurisdiction” for healthcare finance issues, resulting in 35 meetings with members of the House Energy & Commerce (E&C) and Ways & Means Committees, as well as 15 meetings with legislators on the Senate Finance Committee.
