ATLANTA – After many months of preparation, Medtrade starts today. For those of you here in Atlanta, I welcome you. For those who could not make it this time around, I hope you will consider attending Medtrade Spring 2018 in Las Vegas, or Medtrade 2018 in Atlanta.
Each of the three days is focused, packed, and just waiting for your input and curiosity. If you attend educational sessions, ask questions of our presenters, because that is why they are here. When you’re on the show floor, seek to partner with our exhibitors. Make the most of your valuable time.
If you want to add on networking events for additional interaction with your peers, go to the registration area and make it happen. If there are tickets still available, you will be welcomed.
Many people have asked me this year: Is the industry ready for a rebound? Believe me, I want a rebound, but I also acknowledge that there is still a lot of strife within the industry. While audits may have eased a bit this year, reimbursement relief—particularly for rural areas affected by competitive bidding—has still been elusive. We are working closely with the American Association for Homecare (financially and otherwise) to get relief in Washington.
Presenters and attendees at Medtrade feel your pain. They know your pain. Fortunately, the unity and inspiration at a show like Medtrade is invaluable in finding solutions. Ultimately, Medtrade reflects the industry. We know it’s not easy, but we are your allies. If you are here, you made the right decision. You need to occasionally get away from the business to focus on the business.
When you see the Medtrade badge, ask questions. We are here to help. I look forward to seeing you at the show.
Kevin Gaffney is group show director, Medtrade.
