DALLAS – HME providers frequently hear about the value of advocacy, but what is the best way to educate legislators about the issues that affect the industry? The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) is answering the question with an educational session from Ashley Plauché, senior director of Brand Marketing and Tilly Gambill, senior director, Education, Marketing & Events.
“Between issues with reimbursement, operations, labor, supply chain, and more, gone are the days where one can sit on the sidelines or cling to the way things used to be,” says Gambill.
“Providers must thoughtfully leverage every tool at their disposal to maximize opportunities and anticipate changes around the bend,” adds Plauché. “Learn what AAHomecare resources are available to help your company, why we need all hands on deck, and how you can get involved to make a difference for your company and the people you serve.”
WHY: Homecare enables people to remain at home, be with their loved ones, and stay involved in the community; advocacy is an agent of change, ensuring that government programs and payers don’t fail the very people they’re designed to protect; and partnering with people and organizations who align with my core values makes a real-world impact in others’ lives.
HOW: Get started in grassroots advocacy; get involved in the political process; join industry groups for an expanded impact; and effectively use industry resources.
